Woodworm Treatment in Dundee

Small holes and fine dust in your timber can mean active woodworm. We identify it, treat it and protect your roof timbers and floors.

Found small round holes in floorboards, joists or roof timbers, with fine dust beneath them? That usually means woodworm. We provide woodworm treatment in Dundee and the surrounding areas, identifying whether the infestation is active and treating any active outbreak before it weakens your timber further.

Signs of woodworm

  • Small round exit holes, roughly 1 to 2mm across
  • Fine, powdery dust, known as frass, below the holes
  • Tunnels in the wood when a piece of timber is broken open
  • Crumbling or weakened edges to timber
  • Adult beetles, most often seen between May and September

Is it active or old?

Not every hole means a live problem. Fresh, light-coloured holes with frass suggest an active infestation, while old, darkened holes on their own may be historic. A survey tells the difference, so you only pay to treat what actually needs treating.

Where woodworm shows up

Roof timbers, loft boards, floor joists and floorboards are the usual places, especially where it is cool and a little damp. Because we also work on roofs, we often spot woodworm in roof timbers while carrying out other work.

How we treat woodworm

After a survey to confirm the type and extent, we treat the affected timber and the surrounding areas, and advise on reducing the damp conditions woodworm thrives in. Where timber has been badly weakened, we repair or replace it.

Damp and woodworm go together

Woodworm likes damp wood, so controlling moisture is part of the fix. If condensation or a leak is keeping your timber damp, we can deal with that too, including condensation control.
